BHER Launches Request for Proposals focused on advancing opportunities for international students

The Business + Higher Education Roundtable (BHER) is pleased to announce a new work-integrated learning (WIL) partnership request for proposals, Building Talent Pathways: Inclusive WIL for International Students in partnership with the Government of Canada.

International students are underrepresented in WIL programs. BHER is committed to advancing WIL opportunities for international students and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in Canada’s WIL ecosystems more broadly.

“We’re looking to build meaningful partnerships with engaged partners to create quality WIL experiences for international students living and studying in Canada. We’re interested in proposals from all regions of the country, in either official language, and focused on any student or employer sub-group,” said Andrew Bieler, Director of Partnerships & Experiential Learning.

Applicants can submit proposals for small, medium, or large WIL programs up to a maximum of $500,000.

“BHER is one of the only WIL funders in Canada that helps post-secondaries and employers build capacity to deliver quality WIL experiences for international students. We know these experiences are critical to creating pathways for international students to live, work, and stay in Canada after graduation. We know, too, that Canada will continue to depend heavily on international talent to address talent gaps and help drive our economic growth,” said Val Walker, CEO, BHER.

The deadline for applications is April 26, 2023.
