Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Business + Higher Education Roundtable (BHER) Members’ Meeting at the Deloitte Canada office in Toronto.
The meeting theme was “Navigating the AI Revolution.” We heard a lot from our speakers and our members about the need to train and hire people with skills that complement AI technology. Spoiler: they’re human skills, not technical ones. We heard, too, about the need for more collaboration between public and private sectors, particularly if we’re going to take full advantage of AI, and about how industry and post-secondary need to innovate – sooner rather than later – or they will be disrupted.
Together, we came up with ideas for action and next steps. BHER’s mission, to convene with purpose, means we’ll take the conversation and run with it. It’s what we do, as Canada’s only organization that brings together leaders from the top businesses and post-secondary institutions across the country. Please find a summary of the key takeaways in the link below, and some of the ways BHER might be able to help.
Thank you to our speakers for leading the provocative and productive conversation
Special thanks also to Athony Viel (AV) for hosting us at the beautiful Deloitte space, and to Dave McKay for providing welcoming remarks. You can download the presentation slides for Dr. Joël Blit’s opening talk, "Understanding Technological Change", here.
