Micro-credential Summit | Tomorrow's Skills
February 11, 2026 - February 12, 2026 | The Quay
BHER CEO Val Walker joined BHER member John Baker, President & CEO of D2L, for a fireside chat moderated by Robert Luke, CEO of eCampusOntario, at the ninth annual Micro-credential Summit.
Since 2017, eCampusOntario has led the advancement of micro-credentials— targeted programs that build in-demand skills for today’s workforce.
The discussion focused on unlocking the full potential of micro-credentials through industry co-design, applied learning, and modular pathways. When employers and post-secondary institutions build together, these programs become powerful tools for workforce alignment.
As a proud sponsor of the Summit, BHER recognizes micro-credentials as one practical way to better connect training with evolving labour market needs.
Canada’s competitiveness depends on getting talent right in nation-building sectors like energy, space, defence, AI and advanced manufacturing. That’s why work-integrated learning (WIL) is more than just a student experience: it’s talent infrastructure. Combined with micro-credentials, WIL strengthens collaboration between businesses and post-secondary partners, while building a more productive, inclusive, and job-ready workforce.
Since 2015, BHER has played a national leadership role in scaling curricular WIL and industry-paid placements, creating thousands of opportunities for students and strengthening Canada’s talent ecosystem.
