Research Manager

The Role:

BHER is hiring a Research Manager to lead the implementation and day-to-day operations of our growing qualitative research portfolio, including a national multi-year initiative focused on improving employment outcomes for people with disabilities and helping employers recognize diverse talent.

The role will support project design and will manage all aspects of project delivery — including timelines, budgets, and team supervision. The role involves driving data collection and analysis, ensuring findings are synthesized into clear narratives, and producing high-quality reports and presentations. The role collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners, ensuring research is stakeholder-informed and equity-aware.

We’re looking for someone who thrives on managing complex research projects, supporting their team, and delivering meaningful insights to support policy and program design. Reporting to the Director, Research & Programs and working closely with BHER’s senior leadership, the Research Manager will work across departments to ensure their projects deliver strong, actionable results on time and on budget.

The role requires someone who is organized and collaborative. It’s also a great fit for someone with a strong applied research background who wants to make a national impact and help BHER drive change.

Responsibilities:

Research Design + Oversight

  • Ensure consistent and high-quality execution of research methods including literature reviews, interviews, focus groups, roundtables, and surveys.
  • Support development and refinement of research tools, guides, ethics protocols, and data frameworks.
  • Troubleshoot and guide team members on research questions, methodology, and analysis.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise directly with project participants, partners, and stakeholders to coordinate consultations, interviews, and data collection.
  • Represent BHER in external meetings, roundtables, and briefings where appropriate.

Content + Collaboration

  • Guide the drafting of project deliverables and support internal reviews.
  • Work closely with BHER’s communications team and Senior Content Specialist to ensure research outputs are clear, accurate, and accessible to a range of audiences.
  • Contribute to knowledge mobilization and dissemination planning, but final packaging and release will be led by BHER’s comms and R&D content experts.

Qualifications:

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in applied research or evaluation, ideally in a non-profit, academic, or policy-focused setting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and supervising junior staff.
  • Proficiency with qualitative and/or mixed methods research.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and presenting research findings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Subject-matter familiarity with education, skills development, or workforce policy.
  • Experience working with equity-deserving groups or accessibility-focused projects.
  • Bilingualism (English/French).

What We Offer:

  • An annual salary of $90,168 – $103,224 depending on experience
  • A comprehensive benefits package
  • Flexible remote work from anywhere in Canada
  • Generous paid time off policy
  • A mission-driven, collaborative team that values authenticity and impact
