The Halton Industry Education Council-Career Centre (HIEC) is an innovative not-for-profit social enterprise focusing on partnership, mentorship and workforce development. For almost 30 years, HIEC has been building stronger connections between educators, employers and the students who will make up the future workforce.

The renewed partnership between HIEC and BHER will allow for the development of a project supporting HIEC’s mentorship, micro- WIL, and apprenticeship programming, with a focus on supporting equity-deserving students to obtain meaningful employment in the skilled trades.

BHER’s support will allow HIEC to develop 500 new apprenticeship and micro-WIL opportunities that meet the needs of youth and industry in areas of need, such as introducing youth to opportunities in the construction, automotive, and manufacturing industries that address the needs for skills and talent for the net-zero economy.
