BHER’s partnership with the Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA) provided WIL opportunities in collaboration with Lambton College.
The simulated workplace experiences were aligned with accreditation requirements from the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP)—a standardization that provides those in remote locations with the same opportunity for experiential training as those in more centralized locations. Students who participated in the program gained hard and soft skill competencies to help prepare them for their career in the pharmacy workplace. The results of this partnership will be used by OPA to make recommendations for an alternative to field placements for Pharmacy Technician programs to ensure Ontario's colleges can produce graduates that can become licensed and support the pharmacy industry.
