The Smith School of Business (Smith) at Queen's University is one of the world's premier business schools - renowned for exceptional programs, outstanding faculty and research, and the quality of its graduates. Canadian executives regard Smith as Canada's most innovative business school, offering students academic excellence and a superior overall experience.
Smith launched the Queen’s Venture Creation, Experiential Learning & Net Zero Training (QVENT) project, a cross-institutional Queen’s University initiative that prepares undergraduate students across Queen’s University to be responsible leaders equipped with the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to meaningfully tackle the root causes and challenges related Canada’s transition towards a net zero economy.
This project delivered 2,053 new WIL opportunities in four distinct program streams, each providing an innovative work-integrated learning experience that supports the development of a green talent pipeline. Students engaged in course-embedded green industry projects to pursue a real-world challenge provided by an industry or community partner. A second stream offered a Certificate in Leading Sustainable Change Towards a Net-Zero Economy for students who complete the immersive workshop series. A third stream provided green-focused internships, while a fourth stream supported students in launching their own venture focused on green business solutions.
