Royal Roads University (RRU) is a publicly funded, applied research university situated on the unceded territories of the Xwsepsum and Lekwungen speaking peoples. RRU’s students are enrolled in structured online or on-campus cohort-based programs focused on social and environmental sciences, business, interdisciplinary studies, and tourism. The Career Learning and Development department provides centralized career and work-integrated learning services.
RRU, the WestShore Chamber of Commerce, and 4VI are collaborating on an initiative to engage local employers and students in structured dialogue and academic work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities. Through symposiums and career panels, employers will first discuss the emerging opportunities and barriers arising from Canada's transition to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. RRU will then work with each employer individually to find unique fits and opportunities to engage with targeted student groups.
RRU will develop a WIL framework to provide students equal access to and support services for tailored opportunities to collaborate and work with employers through co-op or internship positions, short-term fieldwork opportunities, community services learning, industry events or symposiums, and research projects, as applicable to their course work and career paths.
