At the heart of Southwestern Ontario’s innovation corridor, TechAlliance is committed to strengthening the province’s innovation ecosystem and supporting entrepreneurs, industry leaders, tech talent and stakeholders in generating growth and prosperity for rural and urban communities in our region, while also calling national attention to Ontario’s most promising startup ventures and fastest growing technology companies.
TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario is partnering with Fanshawe College, Huron University College, and the London Chamber of Commerce to connect students to local small- and medium-sized employers through curricular industry projects. TechAlliance will also be hosting student showcases and job fairs at both Fanshawe College and Huron University College to address current challenges businesses are facing in Southwestern Ontario.
The industry projects will navigate real-time challenges identified by employers, and participating students will propose solutions while developing innovation, intrapreneurship, and entrepreneurship skills. The student showcases and job fairs will give students the opportunity to create and show solutions to regionally specific labour challenges. The events will close with a reverse job fair where employers highlight why they are an employer of choice.
TechAlliance’s goal through this initiative is to bring post-secondary education institutions and industry together, promote the value of engaging with the student community, demonstrate the incredible value students can bring to a small business, and encourage small businesses to get more involved in WIL opportunities in the future.
