Since that first class graduated in 1883, the university has become a vibrant centre of learning. Through 12 faculties and three affiliated university colleges, Western today offers its 36,000-plus students more than 400 specializations, majors and minors. Ce partenariat entre la TRAES et l’Université Western a mené à la création de possibilités d’apprentissage intégré au travail (AIT) pour les étudiants de première et de deuxième année en arts et sciences humaines, en information et médias, ainsi qu’en sciences sociales. Grâce à sa collaboration, TechAlliance a facilité le recrutement et l’embauche de diplômés en arts libéraux dans des entreprises de technologie locales. Le projet a également fait appel au Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship et a fourni des ateliers pour aider les étudiants à apprendre des techniques de résolution de problèmes, à améliorer leur esprit d’entreprise et à développer des compétences transférables.

Dr. Alan Shepard President and Vice-Chancellor
Professor Alan Shepard is the 11th President & Vice-Chancellor of Western University. He arrived at Western in July 2019 after serving as President & Vice-Chancellor of Concordia University in Montreal. Prior to Concordia, Professor Shepard was Provost and Vice-President (Academic) of Ryerson University in Toronto. He has also held senior academic leadership roles at the University of Guelph, Texas Christian University, and the University of Virginia.
Beyond his university leadership role at Western, Alan is also actively involved in the community. He has served as a volunteer for organizations including Universities Canada and the Montreal Chamber of Commerce. Currently, Alan serves as a Vice-Chair on the Executive Committee of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities, and also as a board member for Universities Canada, the London Economic Development Corporation, and the Stratford Festival of Canada.
