Anthony Viel CEO

Anthony Viel became the Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Canada and Chile in June, 2019. His vision for the firm reflects a commitment to pursue bold and focused growth choices to make a stronger Canada and Chile for our clients and communities. Guided by the firm’s shared values and Category of One aspiration, AV strongly believes that serving clients with distinction goes hand in hand with promoting an inclusive workplace that prioritizes wellness and elevates everyone to reach their full potential.

Anthony joined Deloitte in 2000 in Australia. Since then he has made a significant impact on the firm, holding a number of leadership roles in Forensics and Financials Advisory in Australia. Most recently, he was the Managing Partner of Financial Advisory, led our Analytics offering in Canada, and headed up our Greenhouse program located across a network of seven innovative spaces. In these roles Anthony fostered the development of key talent at Deloitte with many people he mentored taking on broader leadership positions within the firm. He is an innovator, establishing leading service offerings and taking new products to market. Before joining Deloitte, he worked with Australia’s Company and Markets Regulator, and the country’s largest energy retailer.

Anthony is a passionate wellness advocate and a champion for diversity, equity and inclusion. Under his leadership, the firm launched the Reconciliation Action Plan, the first of its kind in corporate Canada, which outlines our commitments in our reconciliation journey. AV also serves as co-chair of the Black Action Council, tasked with removing barriers for the Black community, and signed the firm on to the Black North Initiative Pledge, which provides a framework to embody anti-racism and create broader, sustainable change. At every opportunity, AV seeks to promote diverse voices and perspectives.

Anthony’s leadership extends to both the soccer pitch and the classroom. He has volunteered as an accredited sports coach and in an education advisory role for several Analytics courses in Canada and Australia. He holds a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney, Diploma of Law from the Legal Practitioners Admission Board, and a Bachelor or Economics (Actuarial Studies) and Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.

He lives in Toronto with his wife and four children, and is known within the firm simply as “AV.”
