Senior Lead, Content and Convening Strategy

The Role

The Business + Higher Education Roundtable (BHER) is hiring a Senior Lead, Content and Convening Strategy to support the development of high-quality agendas, strategic programming, and meaningful convening experiences that engage senior leaders across business, post-secondary, and government.

This new position, reporting to the VP, Corporate Services, is ideal for someone at the intersection of content strategy, relationship-building, and event design. You’ll play a central role in shaping conversations that matter, identifying compelling themes and speakers, and aligning convening content with BHER’s key initiatives, including work-integrated learning (WIL), skills development, and post-secondary transformation.

The right candidate brings a mix of research, strategic thinking, and human skills – someone who can scan the horizon for emerging trends, source and engage high-value speakers, and turn complex topics into well-framed, purpose-driven agendas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design thoughtful, high-quality agendas for flagship events, such as BHER’s Executive Summit, WIL events, member meetings, and stakeholder roundtables.
  • Conduct strategic research on topics, speakers, and emerging trends across education, workforce development, and innovation to ensure programming is relevant, timely, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Shape the narrative of each event by framing key themes, questions, and desired outcomes–ensuring events drive BHER’s goals and resonate with members and stakeholders.
  • Engage and collaborate with BHER members and external stakeholders, including senior leaders across sectors, to co-create and refine agenda content.
  • Work cross-functionally with BHER’s partnerships, research, and communications teams to ensure a consistent, strategic voice across convening materials and touchpoints.
  • Draft and produce supporting materials, including briefing notes, speaker invitations, agendas, event collateral, and post-event follow-up summaries.
  • Track outcomes and next steps from convening activities, ensuring follow-through and documentation that supports long-term relationship-building and impact.
  • Contribute to the growth and success of BHER’s broader engagement, partnership, and convening strategy.

Skills and Experience

We know that no candidate will check every box. If you’re excited about this role and meet many of the criteria below, we encourage you to apply.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a relevant field, ideally with direct experience designing content and agendas for high-profile events or stakeholder engagements.
  • Strong analytical and research skills and ability to identify and synthesize information quickly, and translate trends into meaningful content.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write for professional, senior executive, and policy audiences.
  • Experience engaging with senior leaders and managing external relationships in high-stakes environments.
  • Familiarity with Canada’s postsecondary, workforce development, or innovation systems is an asset.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
  • Experience in event planning or convening is a plus — especially for leadership-level audiences.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a significant asset.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of $74,256-$90,168, based on experience
  • A comprehensive benefits package
  • Flexible remote work from anywhere in Canada
  • Generous paid time off
  • A collaborative, impact-driven team culture rooted in curiosity, inclusivity, and purpose.
