BHER Submission to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities (HUMA)

In June 2018, in response to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, BHER was pleased to provide an overview of the value and importance of work-integrated learning (WIL). This included defining WIL, identifying the nine types of meaningful WIL experiences, and advocating that the Government of Canada adopt a common definition and typology of WIL experiences. 

The Business + Higher Education Roundtable also identified the top skills employers are looking for when hiring recent graduates and outlined BHER’s plan to achieve100 per cent WIL in Canada. The target of 100 per cent WIL is centred around ensuring that all Canadian students in their first degree, diploma or certificate have access to at least one WIL opportunity prior to graduation.
