OTTAWA - The Business + Higher Education Roundtable (BHER) is pleased to welcome  Humber College to its growing membership. The addition of this new post-secondary member bolsters BHER’s mission to connect businesses and higher education institutions.

Thoughtful collaborations with industry partners are exactly what Humber College is known for. As one of Canada's preeminent polytechnic institutions, Humber’s emphasis on hands-on learning aligns perfectly with BHER’s mandate to increase strong connections between employers and post-secondary institutions. So, too, does their one-of-a-kind Sustainability Stream of study that exposes students to green careers through work-integrated learning. Humber will be an important partner in BHER’s goal to create accessible pathways to green jobs.

“The green economy is a national priority that requires expanding the talent pipeline to ensure we are addressing the climate crisis,” said Ann Marie Vaughan, president and CEO, Humber College. “Being a member of the Business + Higher Education Roundtable will strengthen our relationships with employers while we prepare students with the skills and experience to be the climate leaders of tomorrow.”

Humber is actively engaged in advancing industry partnerships. Their initiatives include the Sustainable Microgrid and Renewable Technology (SMART) Lab, opened in collaboration with Siemens Canada. The SMART Lab is designed to train students in both using decentralized energy systems and conducting research with industry partners.

Additionally, Humber has participated in several BHER-facilitated work-integrated learning projects in the past, including in partnerships with the Ontario Pharmacists Association and Lighthouse Labs. Joining as a BHER member will lead to more opportunities for Humber to grow their industry connections and share their expertise with us.

We look forward to what we will achieve with Humber on board.
